Building An ADU & A ‘JADU’ At The Same Property

If you go by the recent ADU construction rules & guidelines for the state of California, you can now build a Regular ADU, as well as a Junior Accessory Dwelling Unit (JADU) at the same property. But, there’s one condition attached to it. The property should be a single family residence. If it is an attached ADU, it cannot be any bigger than 1200 sq. ft. in size or 50% of the size of the main residential unit, whichever is smaller. If it is a detached ADU it must follow the setback rules of 4’ from the side and rear and 10’ from the main unit, as well as 5; away from the nearest property line. In the case of the Junior ADU, it cannot be an inch bigger than 500 sq. ft. This is how you can now think of having two new separate accessory dwelling units for a spacious and comfortable living. And, at Turner Home Remodeling, we help obtain all the necessary permits from the concerned authorities and fully comply with the ADU building codes & guidelines. In other words, a portable one, which can be easily dismantled. You cannot install any appliances that consume more than 120 volts of power. It must have a restricted food preparation counter with a few storage cabinets. As a matter of fact, only the basic requirements to make it functional and serve your needs.
